Pahalgam, Sep 11 (KNO): General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma on Friday said the Army will continue to remain committed to nation-building while ensuring peace and tranquillity in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a function at Army Goodwill School (AGS), here in South Kashmir, Lt Gen Sharma, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said, “As we march towards Viksit Bharat, Northern Command will continue to remain committed to nation-building while ensuring peace and tranquillity.”
“Our commitment is towards the people of J&K. Your peace is our purpose, your aspirations are our missions, and your success is our pride,” he said.
The Army Commander also lauded students for their achievements and credited their success to the guidance of parents and quality education provided by teachers.
He said AGS Wuzur secured third position and AGS Uri sixth position nationally in Young Scientist India 2025, while AGS Wuzur recently figured among the top 10 schools in the Innovation category.
Sharing his own experience as a student and the challenges he faced, Lt Gen Sharma exhorted students to dream big and remain committed to their goals.
“Irrespective of the place, irrespective of the environment, continue to work hard. A time will come when you will prove yourself,” he told the students.
Pertinently, the event also marked ten years of educational partnership between the Army Goodwill Schools and Bharti Airtel Foundation. The partnership, which initially covered 14 schools, has now expanded across all 43 AGS in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
“The initiative has focused on strengthening institutional leadership, classroom practices, academic management, teacher capabilities and technology-enabled learning in line with NEP 2020. The partnership has also promoted creativity and scientific temperament, with AGS Innovation Clubs facilitating more than 160 student-led projects and participation in platforms including ISRO YUVIKA, INSPIRE-MANAK and Young Scientist India,” said an official.
Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel Foundation Co-Chairman Rakesh Bharti Mittal announced continued support for the next decade, including library books, sports coaching, additional smart classes, higher-education scholarships and cash incentives for meritorious Class 10 and 12 students.
Regional President AWWA, Northern Command, Shinei Sharma also called upon parents and teachers to nurture students for future challenges and stressed the need to promote education of the girl child for an inclusive society—(KNO)
